Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is a fragrant perennial herb belonging to the mint family. This plant thrives in well-drained soil and sunny to partially shaded locations. Used as a herb, in culinary dishes, perfume and as an ornamental plant.
Characteristics: Known for its lemon-scented leaves, it features heart-shaped, serrated foliage and can produce small white flowers. The white flowers attract bees and is often used in honey production.
Fun Fact: the genus name Melissa is Greek for Honey Bee.
